Draws on

What the speakers say they, or a film of theirs, drew on. Each is a speaker's account: “the maker said so” when they report the maker's own words, “the host's read” when the read is theirs.

Alien 3 (1992): 2 lines

  1. lineage (sequel undoes ending) · through Alien Resurrection (1997), which they were tied to as almost directed; made a yarn lookbook (joke): Alien 3 ⇒ Alien Resurrection (the host's read). Resurrection brings Ripley back as a clone, which undoes Alien 3's chosen death.
“My nuclear take is bringing her back to life as a clone is more disrespectful than killing, uh, hicks and newt in this movie.”

  2. lineage (sequel) · through Alien Resurrection (1997), which they were tied to as almost directed; made a yarn lookbook (joke): Alien 3 ⇒ Alien Resurrection (the host's read). Resurrection follows Alien 3, but its Ripley is a different character from the one who died.
“As much as she was quote unquote resurrected, obviously, that's a different character explicitly.”

Goldfinger: 1 line

  1. lineage (lineage) · through Alien Resurrection (1997), which they were tied to as almost directed; made a yarn lookbook (joke): Goldfinger ⇒ Alien Resurrection (the host's read). The newborn alien sucked out the window repeats the Goldfinger ending, but sad.
    “it's the goldfinger ending.”

What the speakers say drew on them or a film of theirs, marked the same way.

Firefly (TV): 1 line

  1. lineage (lineage) · through Alien Resurrection (1997), which they were tied to as almost directed; made a yarn lookbook (joke): Alien Resurrection ⇒ Firefly (TV) (the host's read). The Betty's space-pirate crew reads as proto-Firefly, Whedon's later show.
“I mean, some proto firefly stuff.”

Jurassic Park (1993): 1 line

  1. lineage (lineage) · through Alien Resurrection (1997), which they were tied to as almost directed; made a yarn lookbook (joke): Alien Resurrection ⇒ Jurassic Park (the host's read). Aliens caged and taunted while hunting you feels like the raptors; raptors may be Alien rip-offs.
“the raptors have a bit of an alien rip off vibe, honestly”

What was said about them, by kind

craft (1)

  1. craft (post-Gondry style): Nine Inch Nails video (title not said) → Michel Gondry. A host says the one-idea-done-well video feels post-Jonze and Gondry.
“But doesn't this feel like kind of post-Jones gondry where it's like, you just come up with one idea and you executor really well.”

what-if (1)

  1. what-if (what-if): Michel Gondry → Alien Resurrection. Joke: Gondry nearly directed Resurrection with a yarn lookbook.
“My joke is that Gondry almost did it, and it was a look book made out of hell.”
